The first sound I captured was of my friend and I greeting each other in the hallway during passing period. The second sound I captured was of my beginning girls choir class. I wanted to give a sneak peek before our concert Thursday. The third sound was of one of my favorite teachers on a typical day, there’s never a dull moment. The last sound, everyone’s favorite sound, the end of the day when its time to say your “hey’s” or “good bye’s” until tomorrow.

The sounds of a few things over a few days. Lunchtime is used a few times because there are many different things we can do with out free time. The sounds are in a general timeline as I go through some of the day and week. The sounds aren't unique to me because a lot of people here can also share a similar experience.

The daily life of a city slicker. This track follows me on my daily yet far from predictable day. Although there are a couple sounds that are of a train, it is because the commute to school is the majority of my extremely valuable twenty-four hours. This track for me will be a testament to what school days were like for when I get old and have flashbacks. As a senior this project hits home because it has been this beautiful place that has shaped me for my future successes.

First, we have the opening of the lockers in the morning. Second, we have the sound of the stairwell in the morning. Third, I recorded the sounds of a busy stairwell. Next, we have the sounds of people playing table tennis. The following sounds, or the lack thereof, are of my division, 332, complete with the morning announcements. The sounds of the tech center could be heard afterwards.

This recording embodies everything that I have come to love at Whitney Young. My day always starts off at my locker, and I love going to division every morning. French has become a part of me over the years. I love everything from the passing periods to the discussions in world lit. Most importantly, I appreciate the friendships I have acquired.

This is a small recording of sounds that make Whitney Young unique. Some of the sounds occur daily, others only once. There are so many things that happen at school, and we are only there for so many. My recordings include some upbeat and enthusiastic sounds as well as some that are more peaceful.
Sound # 1: The bell, which is sometimes on time.
Sound # 2: Walking down the stairs.
Sound # 3: Homework/ studying in the library.
Sound # 4: Pep rally during division.

A collection of the most important/iconic Whitney Young (In my humble opinion) for the year of 2012-2013. I tried and picked sounds that would not normally be thought of when one thinks of the Whitney Young, Three of them are of places that are not usually associated with noise or sound in general, but the rest of the sounds are more mundane. But, these are the sounds of some of the most important places in the building.

During my time at Whitney Young, I have experienced a lot and have a lot of cherished memories. In this project, I recorded some of the sounds that I heard while at Whitney Young. My first sound is my AP Biology class, which is very interesting. The second sound is my division. Every day for six years, I have been in division with these people. We share a lot of memories together. My third sound is the sound of my locker. My locker has been like a friend to me. I have had one for six years. My fourth sound is the hallways.

The first sound included is the Jackson CTA station. I included this because I take the train to school every day, and I often hear musicians there. The second sound is my eighth period band class. A student is taking a test, and you can also hear the metronome ticking in the background. The third sound is Mr.Scotese introducing a lesson. The fourth sound is my Spanish class. I chose these sounds because they are some of the most interesting things I hear all day.
