Illuminated Texts
Welcome to the Illuminated Text group.
The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane
I ahve decided to bring in one contemporary novel each quarter to correspond with the period in American lit we'll be studying. Our first novel will be Deliverance dane. I just finished reading it. I'll share assignments as we do them. Anyone else teaching this book, or doing something similar?
Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
This forum was created to spark discussion on the writings of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley. This is a general forum to discuss Mary Shelley.
Critical Reading
There have been a lot of forums created that focus on teaching students how to write; however, there are few forums on teaching students how to read. I wanted to start a forum that would allow educators to share how they teach students to read, not on a basic literacy level, but on a critical, analytic level.
I do not want to restrict this forum to the reading of literary texts. Please share the ways in which you teach students to read all texts--literary, filmic, cultural, etc.
Animoto and Goanimate
My students used Animoto or Goanimate to visually present their written essays to the class for The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Their assignment was to write an essay explaining which character was responsible for the deaths. It was a neat way to use technology in the classroom and have the students reinforce their reading of the text. They had to use text that specifically showed that the character was guilty. The needed to carefully choose images and music as well.
What do you think. Do you use Animoto or Goanimate?
Hey Framers! Let's get Moving!! :)
Hello everyone! So today, our Storyboarders from each class will be meeting to finalize their thematic plans for the Moving Frames project. Please keep in mind that each illuminated text pair must submit their theme request by Monday April 19th. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to submit them online (this way, everyone else with the same question can see it). Thanks much! Have a great weekend.
Irish Potato Famine, literature of the time, geography
Greetings:
As a newer teacher, I am grateful for any suggestions on teaching high school students about the potato famine, Ireland's then economic class system, and its geography, through the literature/art of the time.
I am trying to stay away from the middle class, genteel perspective, and to really focus on the very poor, gaelic population, which was just about erased, due to the famine.
I am looking for narratives, films, biography, poetry, short stories...
Many thanks for your help,
Opaque
How do you change Background Color in Flash?
Though its been said many times on how to do so, I still don't know how to set a background color in Flash. Explain.
Question about scenes
While messing around with Flash a little I noticed a "Scenes" option. Does anyone know how this component works, and could it potentially be helpful in organizing the Illuminated Text line-by-line?
Questions about creating Illuminated Texts
So, I've just discovered this site (very helpful by the way), but I can't seem to find any basic handouts or directions for creating illuminated texts. Are there any? Any help would be great, as I really want to try this with my students. Addy
Growing Text problem
I'm trying to make a word grow with an Emphasis...Grow/Shrink animation, but when it grows it becomes distorted and pixelated. Does anyone know a way around this?
Itunes, mp3's and adding them to Power Point
In some ways adding sounds seems to trip the most people up --- if you have a question or are having difficulties this is the place to ask.
